TF-CSIRT is seeking nominations for positions on its Steering Committee for 2022. There are 3 positions open – TF-CSIRT Steering Committee Chair and 2 additional positions on the committee.
To give you an idea of what to expect, TF-CSIRT has prepared some guidelines on responsibilties for Steering Committee members. You may also wish to review the TF-CSIRT Terms of Reference. Nominations should be sent to the TF-CSIRT Secretary or the relevant TF-CSIRT lists before 31st August 2022 by signed mail.
Online Voting
As a reminder, voting for TF-CSIRT SC members will take place online before the September 2022 meeting (to be hosted by Nord Security from 28-29 September in Vilnius). Information about each candidate will be shared online to help members make their choice. Please make sure your team rep has a working TI certificate to ensure you are able to vote.
Changes for the New Foundation
No immediate changes to the make-up, structure or responsibility of the Steering Committee are expected under the new Foundation structure. A revised Terms of Reference will be presented at the September TF-CSIRT meeting, but this will broadly reflect changes in the hosting body only.
Steering Committee vs Supervisory Board
With the new Foundation structure for TF-CSIRT, we will also be looking to recruit community members to the Open CSIRT Foundation Supervisory Board later in the year. So what is the difference between these two roles and which might you be interested in?
- The TF-CSIRT Steering Committee will remain broadly unchanged and continue to have pragmatic and practical direction over the three core structures of TF-CSIRT: TF-CSIRT meetings, Trusted Introducer and TRANSITS.
- The Open CSIRT Foundation Supervisory Board will have a broader strategic role for the whole Foundation including activities outside TF-CSIRT. It will be responsible for ensuring the financial health and viability of all aspects of the Foundation’s work, including TF-CSIRT.
If you have any questions about the TF-CSIRT elections or any of the changes brought about by the new structure please do not hesitate to reach out to any member of the Steering Committee.
