The declared constituency of PIONIER-CERT contains all systems connected directly to PIONIER i.e. National Research and Education Network in Poland. PIONIER-CERT aims to provide a sufficient quality response to security incidents involving computers connected to PIONIER. We, as a team, are conducting reactive and proactive activities. On the reactive side, in particular, we distinguish two prominent cases: a victim of abuse or malicious activity being part of our network and second, our systems being the source of abuse. In some cases, we also need to consider hybrid scenarios. We are helping our clients resolve incidents of all mentioned types. For external partners, we serve as a security contact point for PIONIER consortium wide services, e.g. PIONIER-ID service being part of EduGAIN, and CSIRT of last resort for incidents directly involving PIONIER consortium members. We are working with our clients to limit the potential impact of ongoing attacks and system compromises. On the proactive side, we are actively notifying our clients about emerging threats and potentially vulnerable systems. In that aspect, we are cooperating with Polish and international CSIRTs. We are also engaging in CTI working groups and implementing internal capabilities for malware analysis.
