TF-CSIRT met for the 58th time in Paphos, Cyprus from 16th to 17th September 2019 – kindly hosted by CSIRT-CY. Despite the beautiful setting outside, attendees were extremely busy with the main TF-CSIRT meeting and a variety of side meetings for the TF-CSIRT Futures Working Group, the Taxonomy Working Group and the newly proposed CERTS PR Working Group. For more information about any of these groups please visit our Working Group page.
One of the main points of order for this meeting was to elect new members to the TF-CSIRT Steering Committee in one of the biggest changes to the shape of the committee in recent years. We are very please to announce the following appointments:
- Silvio Oertli, (SWITCH-CERT). Chair.
- Rossella Mattioli, ENISA.
- Andre Oosterwijk, KPN-CERT.
- Rogerio Gil Raposo, CERT.PT.
Full details of the vote can be found on our voting record.
We were also delighted to present three certifications at the meeting. UmU IRT were certified for the first time, whilst CERT.LV and CERT OPL were recertified. Congratulations to all the teams for the hard work.GRIM-CERT – in supporting shipping logistics. The challenge is now on to hear from a railway CERT team to complete the travel trio.
Members were both in a retrospective mode and interested in future gazing. NRD CIRT gave us an interesting oversight into lessons learned from the establishment and modernizing of CSIRT teams and more lessons were available from ENISA and the results of their Study of Incident Response Development within NISD Sectors. A panel of experts from the community then took us into the future with a look at Incident Response Landscape 2025 and beyond.
The regular TF-CSIRT teams were joined at this meeting by many local CSIRT teams across Cyprus, showing the benefit of the model of moving TF-CSIRT to different countries and different locations three times a year. This ability to reach out and engage with local teams will help to strengthen our community over time.
